GM Initiates Massive HUMMER H3 and H3T Recall for Minor Hood Problem

HUMMER H3 H3T Hood Recall

General Motors and the NHSTA announced today a recall of every H3 and H3T between the model years 2006 and 2010 (that’s all of ‘em, folks!) because the small, black, decorate hood louver could become loose over time and become detached during operation.

If you’ve ever worked with the piece, you know it’s held on by a series of tabs that break relatively easily during the removal process. Apparently, the NHSTA has gotten two complaints from U.S. owners and GM had three complaints from Japan on the issue, causing GM to initiate a voluntary recall of 198,404 vehicles worldwide and 164,190 in the United States.

The recommended fix (to be completed by your dealer or authorized service store) is to rework the existing hood louver with permanent adhesive.

The H3 and H3T have had a great service/recall history – only minor issues like this and the jack recall a few years ago.
