The new company is expected to invest another $800 million to $2 billion in the brand in addition to the dealer and warranty obligations -- they're in it for much more than just their purchase price. Also, in the next few years, they will be working very closely with GM for warranty parts. Even should the new company fail, there are insurance policies in place to make sure 10s of thousands of owners aren't left with warranties they bought but can't use.

It is important to know who will warranty the 2010 line of cars. If it is GM, then there is a security net, but if it is a chinese company, can't drive the truck with confidenc. They are only into this purchase for 150M. If they miscaluclated and decide to walk, they can make up their loss with 1/2 of a boatload of crap that they ship over daily. No strong financial commitment here. My H3 lease is expiring and fully intended to flip the lease for a 2010 but now will need an ironclad warranty to drive with confidence.
