Don’t get us wrong – we love XM radio – but having access to your own playlist with thousands of songs isn’t bad either. Now, H3 owners can have both with the introduction of the iPod/iPhone jack from HUMMER.
There are plenty of FM modulators out there, but we definitely prefer the sound quality of having this hard-wired setup. The H3 iPod accessory it isn’t part of any model package or trim level, but can be installed on any factory radio for any year (2006-2010).
Navigating through your songs and playlists is pretty easy once you get the controls down. Since there aren’t any ‘playlist’ buttons on the radio, different functions like “seek” turn into playlist and song selectors.
We tested the model on a 2010 with navigation, but the operation and setup is similar for the single CD and 6CD configurations.
The plug can be placed in one of two places – coming out of the dash (which is good for iPhone setups, since you’ll want access to your cell phone) and inside the glove box.
The MSRP is $235 which doesn’t include installation, though there are some online sites that you can probably find it a little cheaper if you feel up to the installation.
