Robby Gordon Dakar Hummer H3
The world renowned racer that has operated racing teams in almost every tier one racing program is once again in the seat of a Hummer. Well, it looks like a Hummer anyway. Robby Gordon will be piloting an off-road vehicle based on the H3 and sponsored by Hummer. The vehicle loosely based on the H3 and has a lot of custom racing additions like a specially designed chassis and suspension. However, it is powered by a production-based V8 engine from GM. Gordon will be racing the truck in the world-famous Dakar race that covers over 6,000 miles of ever-changing terrain. Teams can encounter sub zero temperatures to scorching desert heat. “Team Dakar USA’s main objective will be to prove that American innovation and determination can compete on the world stage,” said Gordon. “We learned a lot about the vehicle and logistical challenges at last year’s Rally, and I know we are prepared and ready to take on the Dakar in 2007.”
