Earlier today, Vehicle Production Group (VPG) made the announcement they had acquired $160 million from Perseus LLC to produce its Standard Taxi at AM General’s production facility which currently only makes the HUMMER H2. Funding was the last piece of the puzzle for VPG, and production is scheduled to begin in 2010.
According to the release, the Standard Taxi is a rear wheel drive, body-on-frame vehicle equipped with a 4.3 liter V6 manufactured by General Motors. VPG is also getting support from Clean Energy Fuels Corp for its compressed natural gas model.
