I’m Brian Dooley – I’ve been a Hummer fan for years. I started off driving Hummers in 2002 as an off-road instructor at Hummer University. HU was a program held close to the Mishawaka Hummer factory at AM General’s Off-Road Training Facility in South Bend, IN. The program taught dealer staff and salespeople specs and capabilities of the soon-to-be released H2.
In 2004, I spent the summer as an instructor at the Nemacolin Woodlands Off-Road Driving Academy. Nemacolin was a great place to experience Hummer Driving – 600 acres of woods, with 20 miles of trails, plus a man-made obstacle course to take Hummers to their limit. The instruction was done primarily with Hummer H1s, though H2s were also available. Unfortunately, this program has long since been discontinued.
After graduating from Florida State University in 2005, I worked for several years at Sewell Hummer in Dallas– one of the top dealerships in the country and well known for their custom Hummers and customer service.
In Hummer’s heyday, I covered major auto shows, product releases, raced with Team Hummer, and put new vehicles like the H3T to their off-road limits.
Currently, I reside in Niles, MI and still drive my Hummer H3 project truck. Still under 75,000 miles as of 2020!
