Hummer News

Towbin HUMMERAt 6,000 square feet, Towbin HUMMER claims to have the largest stand-alone HUMMER dealership in the nation – but not for long. The Las Vegas dealer recently announced that after next Tuesday, September 9th, it will no longer sell or service HUMMER vehicles.

Earlier this year owner Dan Towbin told reporters that he wasn’t surprised that HUMMER went under strategic review, saying “Obviously the landscape has changed…and fuel is an issue for a brand like Hummer.” Towbin also said he was assured by HUMMER that a revamp of the brand was being given equal consideration. The fact that Towbin’s announcement to get out of the HUMMER business within days of GM’s announcement to sell leads us to believe that behind closed doors, Towbin probably told GM if they’re out on HUMMER, so is he.

Although we’ve heard of some HUMMER dealerships closing their doors, Towbin’s is the first ‘major player’ to bow out. Towbin has won several prestigious awards in the past few years including Master Dealer, Dealer of the Year, and has consistently been ranked near the top in total sales.

HUMMER owners in the Las Vegas area will now have their service and warranty work done at another local GM facility which has yet to be identified.
