Carnegie Mellon’s “Red Team” ran into some all too familiar problems during a recent test run. The heavily modified Hummer H1 turned over, shattering the fiberglass dome that houses its main navigation sensors. All this only one week away from qualifying rounds, but the team says they will be ready to run. Last year they ran into a similar problem, when the former military Humvee made a steering error in an S-curve and rolled over, wiping out its roof-mounted sensors.
